Ocean Kingdom was created by us after many years of being marine fish hobbyists.

However it was the discovery of the ultra low nutrient system method of marine aquarium keeping that finally made us decide to take the plunge and set up our own business. Having enjoyed countless hours staring at our numerous fish tanks we were always a little disappointed when the beautiful corals we purchased slowly turned brown and, whilst still surviving, appeared to loose much of their vibrance and appeal. Then one day whilst scouring the forums we came across Zeolites and ultra low nutrient systems as an approach to more effective marine aquarium keeping.

At first we were hugely sceptical believing that this was nothing more than “snake oil” sold by unscrupulous individuals in search of a quick buck. That said, the promise of near natural conditions in the home aquarium and the return of coral colouration was enough for us to take a gamble and give it a go.

After 4 weeks of adding the various solutions and stones to the tank, we were about ready to give up. We’d followed what limited guidance we could find online to the letter and although we thought the corals and fish looked healthier with polyps extended a little further we were not sure if this was just our imagination or desire telling us what we’d like to see. Fortunately at this point our new nitrate test kit arrived. We’d used the last of the previous test kit a couple of months previous but didn’t rush to order a replacement as we’d always had nitrates up around the 30ppm mark and with regular water changes this was staying stable.

When we tested the water this time, we were quite literally gob smacked. So much so that we threw out the first two test results assuming that they were spoiled in some way. We even went and bought a second test kit assuming the first was ruined. The test with the new kit confirmed it, our nitrate levels were down to somewhere between 1 and 2ppm! We then tried the phosphate test and although we cant remember the exact results this also showed a significant reduction.

After this we were hooked. We continued adding the various solutions, and the nitrate and phosphate levels continued to fall. After three months the readings were barely registering and the troublesome green hair algae that had been the scourge of our tanks had finally receded.

Now after years of low nutrient levels and testing just about every variety, style and type of additive available we are pleased to make this fantastic range of products available to more aquarium lovers like us.

You’ll have to excuse our evangelistic comments some times but having seen the results first hand time and time again we are amazed that this is not being used by every marine aquarium keeper.

So, that’s how Ocean Kingdom came about. We’re a family business here to provide you with the right advice about ultra low nutrient systems whether you’re new to the field, or looking for a solution to a particular problem. Ideally we’ll sell you one or two items along the way from what we consider to be the best ranges available, but ultimately we want to turn all marine aquarium hobbyists into evangelists for the ULNS way!
